Counsellor Training
Counsellor training a central part of our mission. By equipping individuals with counselling skills and practical experience, Snehi is helping build a stronger and more accessible mental health support network for communities across the country.
Why Train with Snehi?
Our Counsellor Training Programme is designed to help participants develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to support individuals experiencing emotional distress and mental health challenges.
The programme is open to individuals above the age of 20 years who are interested in working in the mental health space.
Applicants come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. While a background in psychology may be helpful, it is not a mandatory requirement.
At Snehi, we believe that effective counsellors are shaped not only by academic knowledge but also by qualities such as:
Snehi’s decades of experience in counselling and psychosocial support shape every aspect of the training, bringing together depth, sensitivity, and meaningful field exposure.

The Training Journey
PHASE 01
The first phase consists of approximately 75–85 hours of intensive online training and screening.
PHASE 02
Participants who successfully complete the first phase may continue into a supervised practical engagement programme.
During this period, trainees participate in tele-counselling and mental health support activities under professional guidance and supervision.
Participants who successfully complete both phases receive a certificate from Snehi recognising their training, practical engagement, and contribution to mental health support.
Continue with Snehi's helplines and programmes, or apply your learning in schools, colleges, workplaces, healthcare and community organisations.
A registration fee of ₹3,000 is applicable for selected participants, payable only after the screening process. Reach out to us if you have concerns regarding the fee.
Our Impact
One of the greatest challenges facing mental health today is the shortage of trained counsellors relative to the growing need for support. For over three decades, Snehi has invested in people to build counselling capacity across communities.

Testimonials from Counsellors
This training has made me realize the value of feelings and being aware of our emotions and thereby other’s emotions.
The role of emotions in shaping the thoughts and behaviour and how they can fog our cognitive mind became obvious during counselling. I realized that emotions are like onion peels, one covered by another.
Training under experienced professionals for 7 days was a great learning experience & meeting likeminded individuals on zoom every day was best for me.
Sharing my journey of Mental health on this platform was a breakthrough for me.
This training has truly been a journey of self-growth as well.
I now truly appreciate the value of silence. How it gives space in the mind to put pieces in their right place in solving the puzzle of life.
I joined Snehi to learn more about counselling. And Snehi helped me a lot in my journey of learning. If I start writing for each session then it will be quite lengthy but I really admired all the resource person for their knowledge and informative sessions. And they were kind and patient enough to listen us and answer our queries.
As Snehi’s motto, I was able to unlearn things and gain new perspectives. It has helped me grow as a person and I am grateful to Snehi for allowing me to be part of this training. I wanted to add one more thing that role play helped a lot in boosting my confidence and to know my shortcomings.
The rigorous three-month training program challenged me in meaningful ways. It pushed me to reflect, question my assumptions and build a stronger foundation as a tele-counsellor.
Snehi creates a safe space for learning, unlearning, and growth.
This experience has shaped the way I approach both personal and professional relationships.
The trainers were extremely supportive and brought in rich, practical insights.
I came in with curiosity and left with clarity and purpose.
The process is rigorous, but incredibly rewarding.
It’s more than a training; it’s a journey of self-discovery.
Being part of Snehi has been one of the most meaningful experiences for me.
