Why Mental Health Matters
Mental health is a state of successful performance of the mind, resulting in productive activities, fulfilling relationships, and the ability to adapt to change & cope with adversity.
Mental health is indispensable to personal well-being, family and interpersonal relationships, and a positive contribution to society.
From childhood through every stage of life, mental health is a springboard for thinking, communication, learning, emotional growth, resilience, and self-esteem.
It is easy to overlook the value of mental health and wellness until problems surface, yet from childhood to lifetime, mental health is the foundation of a meaningful life.

What We Do
From crisis support to preventive wellness, Snehi offers comprehensive mental health services rooted in listening, empathy, care, and the psycho-social model.
Breaking stigma through awareness, dialogue, and community engagement to build a healthier outlook on mental well-being.
Snehi’s school outreach initiative also called Chetna is focused on creating awareness, understanding, and acceptance around mental health among students, teachers, and parents.
Snehi’s corporate outreach initiative is focused on creating awareness, understanding, and acceptance around mental health in the workplace.
Our Story
Snehi was born from a deep conviction that mental health support should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
What started as a single helpline has grown into a comprehensive mental health organization helping thousands across India.
Snehi was the first in the country to launch a Pre-Exam Helpline in 1996, pioneering a movement that continues to this day.
Today, Snehi’s helpline number is recommended by media houses, mental health organizations, and even AI platforms, a testament to the trust built over three decades.
We believe in the psycho-social model - caring, empathy, and sharing as the foundation of healing.
Our focus is preventive mental health care and promoting awareness, not clinical treatment.
From volunteers to trained counsellors, our strength is the community that stands together.
Be a part of building stronger, healthier, and more supportive communities through volunteering and mental health capacity building.
As a volunteer, you can contribute your time, expertise, and compassion to support mental health initiatives, awareness programmes, helplines, community outreach, and organisational activities.
India faces a growing need for mental health support, but the number of trained counsellors remains limited. We equip individuals with counselling skills, practical exposure, and supervised learning to support people in emotional distress.
