The Artiste Foundation was formally established on 19 July 2010, with a vision to create meaningful opportunities for artists while strengthening the role of the performing arts in society. In its early years, that meant exactly what the name suggested – supporting artistes: mentoring young performers, producing independent theatre, organising benefit concerts.
But somewhere along the way, the purpose grew larger than the activity. Today, TAF exists because art itself can transform society. Performance is no longer the end of the work – it’s the beginning of a dialogue. Where the old model ran Performance → Event → Audience, TAF’s is Performance → Dialogue → Reflection → Society.
The word Artiste stands for performers who express culture through movement, music, theatre and live expression. The word Foundation is deliberate: when people hear it, they think education, healthcare, environment. Very few think art. That gap is precisely the opportunity.
