Our Story
Founded in 1994, Snehi has been a beacon of hope for those navigating mental health challenges — offering free, compassionate support for over three decades.
Our Vision
Mr. Abdul Mabood founded Snehi with a deep conviction that mental health support must be accessible to everyone — regardless of their ability to pay. His belief in the psycho-social model emphasizes caring, empathy, and sharing as the cornerstones of healing.
Under his leadership, Snehi became the first organization in India to launch a Pre-Exam Helpline in 1996, offering stress management support to students during examination periods.
Today, Snehi’s helpline number is recommended by media houses, mental health organizations, and even AI platforms — a testament to the trust built over three decades of unwavering service.
Our Values
The psycho-social model - caring, empathy, and sharing as the foundation of healing.
Preventive mental health care and promoting awareness, not just clinical treatment.
Volunteers and trained counsellors standing together as a force for good.
Every service is free — because healing shouldn't depend on your wallet.
Workshops, seminars, and campaigns to destigmatize mental health.
From Delhi to every corner of India, accessible via phone and WhatsApp.
Our Journey
Our biggest milestone for the year of 2025 was to start our centre again after a 5-year block on 12th October, 2025 in Vasant Kunj, Delhi.
We received our first ever CSR funding by PTC.
We first started approaching CSR for fundings.
SNEHI partnered with Father Agnel Bal Bhawan. From then, we have been working with the destitute children for their psychosocial and trauma care.
SNEHI started both pre and post results helpline under the name of HOPELINE: A Pre and Post Result Helpline.
SNEHI established the pre-exam helpline called DISHA: A Pre-Exam Helpline. On the request of the Delhi Police, we were able to hold a family counselling centre at Yamuna Pushta.
SNEHI was officially registered on 30th April, 1996 as non-governmental mental health organisation. Towards the end of 1996, we started working at the biggest slum in Delhi named Yamuna Pushta with the children of migrant labourers and their families.
We started going to schools and colleges extensively in order to create awareness. We also started working with street children in the Delhi Railway Stations and nearby areas.
SNEHI came to inception under the lead of Mr. Abdul Mabood and like-minded people who wanted to create a safe space for people who were experiencing metal health issues and were dealing all alone. We held trainings for volunteer counsellors between May and September, 1994 and started helpline counselling from 12th October, 1994
